State COBRA Insurance

Learn about state level COBRA insurance benefits

In order to ensure that more people have access to continued health insurance care, many states have adopted COBRA health insurance plans of their own. These plans come under many names – Mini COBRA plans, COBRA Extension plans, COBRA Continuation plans – and generally extend benefits to people who do not qualify under the federal COBRA plan. Specifically, state run COBRA health insurance plans may extend benefits to people who work at smaller companies with between 2-19 employees, and sometimes extend the coverage length beyond the typical 18 months.
